Description

‘Designed in California’ is the new ‘Made in Italy’

That’s the slogan for the new California: Designing Freedom exhibition at the Design Museum. Join fellow UC alumni and students for a guided tour of the Design Museum by one of its designers, Fabien Pinault (friend of UC Davis), followed by an at-your-own-pace stroll around the exhibit.

Tickets include the guided tour of the Design Museum AND entry to the California: Designing Freedom exhibition.

About the California: Designing Freedom exhibition

While California’s mid-century modernism is well documented, this is the first exhibition to examine its current global reach. Picking up the story in the 1960s, the exhibition charts the journey from the counterculture to Silicon Valley’s tech culture. Learn more about the exhibit by clicking here.

About The Design Museum

Located in Kensington, London, The Design Museum covers product, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design. The major reconfiguration of the building was one of architectural transformation and enhancement.

Its successful resolution in making a new set of museum spaces merits recognition. The three housing blocks, in which the museum resides, are square in plan and sit within a new garden landscape. Orientated to the same geometry as the former Institute, units are arranged in a pin wheel plan giving generous oblique views to park, city and the listed building.
